Construction is driving force of economy in times of crisis, Stavreski says

The construction is one of the fundamental economic activities in every country and it was driving force of Macedonia’s economic growth especially in times of crisis in the past years, Deputy PM and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski said Tuesday opening the 10th Fair of Construction Buildings Materials and Construction Mechanization, Build & Construct 2013.

He said that positive conditions in the construction were indicator for the quality of the construction companies and all doers in this sector for participating in such significant percent in creation of the GDP but also in the Government's policy for stimulation of construction activities.

The construction sector only in Macedonia compared with all countries in Europe has shown positive results in the past four years of the global economic crisis. Also here the double-digit growth rates are worth mentioning, which I believe the 2012 data will prove this, Stavreski said.

He reminded on undertaken activities by the Government which helped in realisation of positive results in construction sector, mentioning the flat tax, possibility which was used by many construction companies for reinvestment, a measure which will last by end of 2015.

He also said that "Buy a House, Buy a Flat" project was very well welcomed by construction companies and citizens. Also, an important measure is the possibility for buying state construction land at a price of €1 per m2 which stimulated many companies to start the construction at very low costs.

He wished successful work, realisation of business meetings and information exchange to the exhibitors of the 10th Fair of Construction Buildings Materials and Construction Mechanization, which lasts until March 9.

The fair will provide presentation of over 300 companies in the country and from Serbia, Turkey, Italy, Slovenia, Kosovo and Germany. Participants will exhibit in three fair halls at an area of 9.000 sqm.

This manifestation is also supplemented with the 3rd international real estate exhibition, RealExpo, which will provide offers by investors for buying 1.500 new apartments and favourable conditions for buying flats through "Buy a House, Buy a Flat" project.
