Macedonia, Argentina sign tax agreement

Macedonia and Argentina signed Friday an agreement for information exchange on tax issues, enabling bilateral support relevant for implementation of national tax-related laws.

Vice Premier and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski and Federal Administration of Public Revenues director Ricardo Echegaray signed the agreement that creates a legal framework for inter-institutional cooperation, determination and collection of taxes and assessment of tax issues.

"This agreement and the facts I mentioned about Macedonia will increase your interest in cooperation with the country, and we are here to help all those who want to do business with Macedonia. Today is the first step in strengthening the cooperation in the fields of taxes and customs, and the next step should be an agreement on information exchange in customs", said Vice Premier Stavreski.

Director Echegaray said Macedonia's fiscal and tax policy was interesting for all those who want to invest in the country that represents a gate to Europe.

"This agreement puts Macedonia in the network of countries we are cooperating with, setting the foundation for more intensive cooperation", he added.

Moreover, interlocutors voiced readiness for launching a process of consultations and opinion exchange towards creating a legal framework regulating the elimination of double taxation between the two countries.
