Macedonia offers projects under China's CEE investment fund

Macedonia has offered several concrete projects to China under Beijing's $10billion-fund for financing infrastructure projects in Central and Eastern Europe.

The projects are related with construction. energy, road, rail-way infrastructure and agriculture for which China has already expressed interest, MIA reports form Bucharest.

At a meeting late Tuesday, Macedonian, Chinese Prime Ministers Nikola Gruevski and Li Keqiang reaffirmed the friendly bilateral relations.

The PMs agreed that there was a solid potential for bolstering the economic cooperation between the two countries.

Gruevski briefed Keqiang about the favourable conditions for investing in Macedonia and invited him to visit the country.

China is active supporter of Macedonia, Keqiang said.

Macedonia is one of the first countries to enjoy the benefits of the US$10 billion fund that the Chinese government promoted last year. The amount of EUR580 million will be used for a construction of motorway sections Miladinovci-Stip and Kicevo-Ohrid.

Macedonia and Chinese Sinohydro--the world's largest hydropower construction company--have already signed agreements to that effect. The construction works on the motorways in Macedonia are expected to commence in early 2014.
