First Urgent Pediatric Center opens in Macedonia

The first urgent center for children in Macedonia was formally opened Saturday in a fully reconstructed and refurbished premises at the University Clinic for Children Diseases in Skopje.

The reconstruction and adaptation of the space within the University Clinic of Children's Diseases into a Padiatric Emergency Room is a result of the National Fundraising Campaign 'Help on Time', which was implemented under the auspices of Macedonia's First Lady Ms. Maja Ivanova.

The Center is built under the support of the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination (TIKA). Additional donations will be used for further equipping of the Center and new outpatient departments.

This Center will contribute substantially to the health services our country is offering to children, in particular to emergency cases, Ivanova said at the opening ceremony.

The ceremony also heard the addresses of Health Minister Nikola Todorov, Clinic's Director Aspazija Sofijanova, the wife of US Ambassador to Macedonia, Mary Jo Wohlers, TIKA Deputy Chairman Mehmet Surayya and the Turkish Ambassador to Macedonia Gurol Sokmensuer.
