Gjorgjiev: Reform for objective and equal work of judges

The Government at its last session adopted changes of Criminal Code in the sphere of judicial reform which gives legal basis for passing guideline for unified sentencing. Based on this document, all judges in Macedonia must obey instructions in the guideline.

Government Spokesperson Aleksandar Gjorgjiev told Sunday’s press conference that the guideline will be prepared by the court and approved by President of the Supreme Court with participation and provided opinion by the Public Prosecutor and Macedonian Bar Association.

The guideline will provide larger legal security for the citizens thus preventing subjectivism in pronunciation of sentences by judges or courts, Gjorgjiev said.

This will mark the start of essential reform in judicial system in Macedonia by providing more rightful and more objective system of pronunciation of sentences, he said.
