Government revokes duties on import of peppers
The Government adopted decision at Tuesday’s session to revoked duties on import of industrial pepper, Government’s Spokesperson Aleksandar Gjorgjiev said at Wednesday’s press conference.
He said that the decision enters into force today and will last until year-end.
The decision revokes customs duties of 50% for import of industrial pepper in Macedonia and 2.000 tons without any duties can be imported by Dec. 31. The decision will be realised under “first-come, first-served” policy and one importer will not be able to import more than 500 tons, Gjorgjiev said.
He also said that the Government also adopted decision for reduction of customs duties of tomato purée from 50% to 25%. This decision will be valid through June 30, 2015, allowing import of 500 tons under the same “first-come, first-served” policy and one importer will not be able to import more than 125 tons.
These decisions are passed upon the request of the business community after overall analyses which showed that would not make any harm to domestic producers and at the same time will provide fulfillment of agreements between our producers of food processing industry and foreign suppliers, Gjorgjiev said.
