The Ministries of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, and Environment and Spatial Planning support the first 100% electric car-sharing project in Skopje.

The Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning today announced a step forward towards a sustainable and green future by supporting and signing a letter of intent with the renowned company 'Avant Car', which is implementing the first 100% electric car-sharing project in Skopje.

This document confirms the readiness of both institutions to provide logistical and administrative support for the implementation of the first electric car-sharing system in Skopje. This project exemplifies how public institutions can create conditions to attract private investments that directly contribute to improving citizens' lives.

Through this project, citizens will have access to modern, economical, and environmentally friendly transportation designed to reduce traffic congestion, pollution, and dependence on fossil fuels. The Ministry of Energy emphasized the importance of installing electric vehicle chargers that will use 100% renewable energy, while the Ministry of Environment highlighted that the project will contribute to improving air quality by significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.

"Today, we are placing Skopje on the map of modern cities that not only talk about sustainability but also take bold steps towards it. Traffic jams, pollution, and dependence on fossil fuels are not things we should accept. Public institutions and the private sector can jointly create projects that directly improve the daily reality of our citizens. The electric car-sharing system is also an example of how technology can serve people and the planet. With such initiatives, we not only improve the quality of life but also build trust in the private sector that it is worth investing here," said Minister of Energy Sanja Bozhinovska.

"Our city has long faced the consequences of urban pollution. The goal is to directly influence and reduce CO₂ emissions and pollution, which is our priority as a ministry. Citizens will have the opportunity for more economical transportation without compromising the environment. As the Ministry of Environment, our task is to support such innovative solutions that have a direct and positive effect on the environment. This project is proof that it is possible to create healthier urban environments through public support and private initiative," said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment Izet Mexhiti.

"With the introduction and implementation of a car-sharing system with 100% electric vehicles under the brand name 'Avant2Go' in Slovenia, Croatia, and Austria, and now in Macedonia, we act as a pioneer for widespread implementation of electric mobility and the implementation of electric vehicle infrastructure, encouraging the use and sharing of electric vehicles," said Matej Čer from the Avant Car group.

The project's implementation is planned to begin with the provision of public and private parking spaces and the installation of appropriate charging infrastructure in several Skopje municipalities. Mayors and representatives from Aerodrom, Čair, and Gazi Baba attended the signing. Simultaneously, activities will be organized to educate the public and promote the benefits of this innovative system.

Avant Car in Macedonia will be part of the Avant Car Group, headquartered in Slovenia, which is among the leading mobility-as-a-service providers in Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, and now Macedonia.

The ministries express their readiness to cooperate with municipalities, public institutions, and the private sector for faster and more efficient implementation of this initiative, which has the potential to position Skopje as a leader in sustainable urban mobility in the region.

This initiative will contribute to improving air quality, reducing traffic congestion, and developing modern transport solutions that are energy-efficient and accessible to all citizens.
